Press Release

It's a nice, sunny day at the beach and you have just finished building the world's greatest sandcastle. Then, suddenly a crab steals one of your towers and a wave washes away your moat! Grab your tools and go, it's time to defend your sandcastle!

 

Sandcastle Defense is a single-player, top-down 2D game where you must build protection for your sandcastle against rising ocean waves and fight off incoming crab attacks. Strengthen your castle, design a moat defense system, and upgrade your tools as you conquer each wave!

Pam is currently a sophomore from Miami, FL majoring in Computer Science and Studio Art at SMFA. She enjoys interactive media arts, art activism, and animation. She is currently exploring creative coding. In her spare time, Pam TAs for Comp11, volunteers as a college advisor with Matriculate, and rewatches Disney/Pixar movies.

She worked on game music, shaders, sprite animations, and helped with beach waves, and level progression, 

Eric is a current sophomore from Allendale, New Jersey majoring in Computer Science and minoring Finance. For the game, he worked on the instruction pages, pause menu, and was mainly responsible for implementing the shop. Some minor aspects of the game he did were create the art of some of the tools and add a few player feedback audios. 

Zamie is a current sophomore from New York City, New York majoring in Computer Science. He loves playing a lot of games, watching game and movie trailers, and gamers streaming. But asides from sitting in front of screen all day, he also enjoys working out in the gym, playing basketball, and fishing with friends and family. For the game, Zamie assisted in creating the animation art of the player character. He also provided logic into character interactions with game objects on the map such as the character tools, interaction with castle and shop.

Emai Lai

Emai is a senior from Andover, MA majoring in Human Factors Engineering and Film & Media Studies (and minoring in computer science). Interested in the intersection of art, music, and coding, she's been wanting to take Game Design for years, so she's glad she got to take it during her final semester at Tufts. On Sandcastle Defense, Emai worked on tool functionality, trench design, level progression, and (some) sound effects!

Chris Carney

Chris is currently a sophomore from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL majoring in Computer Science. He enjoys cooking, hiking, and creating art in his free time. Chris was mainly involved in programming and creating art for the game. Some of the central elements he worked on included background/castle art, spawning crabs/defending against them, upgraded tools, level progression, castle deterioration, and particle effects.
